Grilled Turkey Tenderloin - An Iowa State Fair Favorite and My Favorite!

One thing that always gets me excited is when I get a chance to grill out turkey tenderloins. I remember going to the Iowa State Fair with my dad and him always wanting to get turkey tenderloin sandwiches. That's where my love began of them. Thru the years I would always get a turkey tenderloin sandwich at the fair each year. I noticed as I got older that they provided their recipe so you could cook them at home as well. Of course, I had to try this! It's such an easy recipe to make really. You just marinate the turkey in the ingredients for a few hours and then grill it up. So easy and so good. You can have them on a sandwich or just eat alone. Of course I always like to add a little BBQ sauce. I'm a fan of sweeter BBQ sauce, like Cookies, if here in the Midwest.

So here is the recipe. Make it when you get a chance. You won't regret it.

 Ingredients:

2 tablespoon Lemon juice

1/4 cup Soy sauce

1/4 cup Vegetable oil

1/4 cup Dry sherry OR red wine

2 tablespoon Instant minced onion or dehydrated onion

1/4 teaspoon Ground ginger

1/8 teaspoon Black pepper

1/8 teaspoon Garlic powder

1 pound turkey tenderloin

Directions:

Blend all ingredients except turkey together in a large bag for marinade with turkey tenderloins. Add turkey, turning to coat both sides. Close up the bag and marinate in refrigerator several hours, turning occasionally. Grill, 6–8 minutes per side depending on thickness.  Tenderloins are done when there is no pink in center of meat. Do not overcook.

Serve on a hot dog bun uncut or cut up and serve with your favorite side. BBQ sauce brings out a wonderful taste as well when added. Enjoy!!
