So I was feeling a little nostalgic today. I came across the Oregon Trail game. This was one of the first games I ever played. Yes, this tells you I am old. I think I was in Kindergarten when I first played it. It was on an old computer that just had the black and green screen. I remember we were allowed to play it in Library. It was seriously so cool at the time. This was before Nintendo or Atari or anything fun like that.
So I saw a pic of the game. Then I started looking it up. I came across the Visit Oregon website that had an older version of the game you could play. So of course I played it. I mean this is the most basic game you can play. Here is the Google AI explanation of it: The Oregon Trail video game is based on the historical journey of American pioneers traveling from Independence, Missouri, to Oregon Country in the mid-19th century, simulating the challenges, resource management, and decision-making necessary for survival on the arduous westward trek. Developed as an educational tool, it teaches players about the historical realities, geography, and dangers, such as illness, weather, and river crossings, by having them make critical choices about food, supplies, and travel to reach their destination alive.
I was getting thru the game pretty well, but slowly my group of 5 were dying and then I died. I didn't make it. I was crushed. But the more of think about it, did I ever win as a kid? Anyways, if you are older like me and want to revisit your past or you are younger and just want to play a fun, basic game check it out on the Visit Oregon website.
