Just a few days ago Playdate came out on Prime Video. The movie stars Kevin James and Alan Ritchson. Now, I was excited when I saw Alan Ritchson had a new movie coming out. I am a big fan of his show Reacher and was excited to see him in something else. So I guess you could say I came in with high expectations.
Let's take a look quick and see what the movie is about. Playdate is a buddy comedy in which Ritchson stars alongside actor and comedian Kevin James. The plot follows two stay-at-home dads who get caught up in high-stakes spy shenanigans after an assassin crashes a casual playdate.
I will give the movie a little credit as it was interesting to see Ritchson play in a comedic role. But to be honest, he is not an actor who should be doing comedy. He fits perfectly into that high octane, fierce, muscle bound, hero character. And Kevin James role in the movie is a bit more what you are use to but, his acting doesn't do the movie any favors. I hate to say it, but this movie will not be watched again. Save your time or if you really want to watch it, have it on in the background while you are doing something else.
Out of 10 Popcorn Kernels, I give it a 4.
