Christmas Presents: Is there a point to adult gifts?

With Christmas right around the corner my kids have already given me Christmas lists, so it made me think about presents more. It seemed like back in the day everybody actually got each other gifts. The days of Amazon gift cards, Target gift cards or the Visa gift card were not heard of yet. You would have to spend time shopping and find that perfect gift for your family member or friend.  Of course back then you couldn't just hop online and order something. I am guilty of pretty much ordering everything online nowadays. Gone are the days of Black Friday shopping, out at midnight at the mall or favorite store. Now I just click a button and the gifts are delivered to me.

Speaking of Black Friday, do you remember how much fun it use to be? Up all night, battling for one of those special items the store only had a couple of.  It seemed like it was a TV or a Blu Ray player or some kind of electronic I was always after. But, more than anything it was fun hanging out with my family, getting together and all coming together to run to stores in the freezing cold at midnight.

But, back to my original thought. Do adults really need to give each gifts? I mean I can afford to buy myself a shirt or sweater when I need one. Maybe if we made something for each other it would be more special? Or just hanging out, having a nice dinner and playing some games together is what Christmas is all about. Of course it's fun to get the kids toys. That's the point of Christmas for them. But, let's remember this year the point for adults.... To be together... Eating some great cookies.... playing games.... watching some football.... and of course, enjoy yourself.

Don't stress yourself out. Relax and have FUN this Christmas!
