Dutch Letter Bars - A Recipe You Have to Try!

Dutch letters are one of my favorite sweet treats to eat. You can read more about them in a post I did on my obsession with them. So when my sister brought me some home made Dutch Letter Bars I was so excited! First of all, anyone that makes a treat for me is special, but when it's a form of Dutch Letters, well, my sister became my favorite baker of all time!

So what makes these bars so good. Well, it's that almond, sugar taste that makes Dutch letters so good. But you just get a little bit more in a bar, which I'm a fan of. Plus, anyone can make the bars. Making the "S" shape of the Dutch Letter is a bit trickier. So, here is the recipe that will make you a genius in your kitchen!

Dutch Letter Bars

Ingredients:

- 1 can almond paste

- 1 cup melted butter

- 2 eggs, plus 1 egg yolk

- 2 cups flour

-1 1/2 cups sugar

- 2 teaspoons almond extract

- Sliced almonds

- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

- Course sugar

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 325 degrees. In a mixer, combine ingredients and blend them well. Spread in a 9x13 inch pan. Brush the bars with the egg white. Then sprinkle with sliced almonds and coarse sugar.

Bake for 30 minutes until the bars are golden brown. Make sure to watch so you don't overbake.

Then Enjoy!!!! They are so good!
