I first watched the movie a couple years ago on Netflix during the Christmas season. I decided to put it on again last night as I was doing other things and needed some background noise. So, since I watched it a second time you can’t say it’s a bad movie. It’s enjoyable. So what is it about?
The Noel Diary is a romantic holiday movie about a novelist named Jake Turner (Justin Hartley from the show Tracker) who returns to his estranged mother's home at Christmas to settle her estate. While there, he finds a diary that holds secrets from his and a woman named Rachel's (Barrett Doss) past, prompting them to work together to uncover the truth about their families and start a relationship.
While there is a good chemistry between the two main actors the ending could have been a bit more. You see the romantic chemistry but you never get that moment at the end where you get that last hooray you might be waiting for.
I will say this. This was the first movie I saw Barrett Doss in. A great actress! Now I have to see if she has any other movies to watch or not. Overall, if you do choose to watch this movie, make sure it's in the winter. Not a Summer movie!
Out of 10 Popcorn Kernels, I give it a 6.
