"Smooth but mellow, almost buttery, nutty even, with a tinge of tain." This was the crazy little line that my high school friend Eric and I would always say back in high school. McDonald’s has introduced many new items to their menu over the years. Some have been successfully and some have “McFlopped”. Here’s a look back at 7 discontinued McDonald’s menu items that didn’t make the cut. The Yule Cat - A Christmas Tradition

While traditional Christmas folklore characters are typically friendly—just think of the many incarnations of St Nicolas—in Iceland there’s a character that sounds quite terrifying. The Yule Cat (Jólakötturin) is a huge, vicious creature that lurks in the snowy countryside. Jólakötturinn is the Icelandic Yule Cat or Christmas Cat. He is not a nice cat at all. In fact, he might eat you! This character is tied to an Icelandic tradition in which those who finished all their work on time received new clothes for Christmas, while those who were lazy did not (although this is mainly a threat). To encourage children to work hard, parents told the tale of the Yule Cat, saying that Jólakötturinn could tell who the lazy children were because they did not have at least one new item of clothing for Christmas—and these children would be sacrificed to the Yule Cat. Oregon Trail - A Classic Game

So I was feeling a little nostalgic today. I came across the Oregon Trail game. This was one of the first games I ever played. Yes, this tells you I am old. I think I was in Kindergarten when I first played it. It was on an old computer that just had the black and green screen. I remember we were allowed to play it in Library. It was seriously so cool at the time. This was before Nintendo or Atari or anything fun like that. So I saw a pic of the game. Then I started looking it up. A Caffeine Bar for Breakfast? Yep, that's my Routine

Most people will drink coffee in the morning to get the caffeine to wake up for the day. But, I don't like coffee. Can't stand it really. I like tea, but tea makes me have to pee way to much. I could drink a soda, but we all know soda is fattening and has way too many sugars in it. So what else is there? I need caffeine. It is my one vice I need! Don't do drugs, barely drink alcohol and I cut out drinking soda ( drink Cirkul now ), but I need caffeine to wake up! The answer for me? Clif Caffeine Bars. Now let me start by saying I am a breakfast eater, but I don't like greasy things for breakfast. Plus I want something easy I can grab fast and take it to work. That's when I found these amazing bars. Not only a bar, which tastes good, but it has caffeine in it! 65mg! That's plenty to get me going. Swing Revival - Do you Remember the Mid 90's? Is it Time Again?

The Swing music revival that happened in the mid 90's was one of my favorite times for music. Of course I was in high school at the time, so it made since why I was so into music. It was attractive as well because it was a new kind of music at the time that nobody had hear in years. Swing music at the time, was led by the "swing revival" or "neo-swing" movement, which blended traditional swing with rock, punk, and ska influences. This resurgence brought the style to mainstream popularity through bands like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Squirrel Nut Zippers and the Brian Setzer Orchestra. It featured a combination of classic swing tunes and new songs inspired by the genre. I remember one of my favorite movies during that same time was Swingers, starring Vince Vaughn and John Favreau. It had some of that classic music in it as well. If you want a good to movie to watch and go back to that mid 90's feel, check it out. But back to the music....

A New Mummy Movie is Coming - And I'm Excited!

It was announced that a new Mummy movie is coming! Several outlets have confirmed that The Mummy 4 is officially in the works, with filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett at the helm. And the best part is, it's not a reboot, it will have the original stars, Brendan Frasier and Rachel Weisz. This was after they tried to do a reboot version of the movie starring Tom Cruise in 2017 that was not good at all. The three main movies in the The Mummy franchise are The Mummy (1999), The Mummy Returns (2001), and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008). These action-adventure films follow the adventures of Rick O'Connell (Brendan Frasier) and Evelyn Carnahan as (Rachel Weisz in the first 2 movies) they battle supernatural foes across different parts of the world, with the first film reintroducing the character of Imhotep, and the sequels continuing the story of the O'Connell family.
